Blood In My Eye

Only a few days before the author’s death, Blood In My
Eye was completed. During an attempted attempted
escape, George Jackson was killed by San Quentin prison
guards on August 21, 1971. George Jackson was convicted
of stealing $70 from a petrol station at the age of eighteen
and was sentenced to one year to life in prison. He was
sentenced to spend the rest of his life in California prisons,
including seven years in solitary confinement. He read
considerably while in prison and developed into an activist
and political thinker who referred to himself as a
revolutionary.
